NAHB Award Programs
NAHB has multiple opportunities for builders, remodelers and other housing industry professionals to highlight their excellent works and accomplishments throughout the year. Below is a list of all awards that are available to both NAHB members and non- members. We highly encourage housing professionals to apply for any and all awards so we can share your successes with others!
Best of 2015 IBS Awards
At each NAHB International Builders' Show, exhibitors are recognized for outstanding new products and services. Read about the honorees at the 2015 Show in Las Vegas here.
Association Excellence Awards
The Association Excellence Awards (AEA) is an annual awards program designed to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of state and local HBAs and executive officers in the field of association management. The awards program is twofold: the HBA Awards and the Individual Awards. The awards program is open to state and local HBAs and their executive officers and are presented every August during the Association Leadership Institute.nahb.org/aea
The Best in American Living Awards (BALA) is the nation's premier award program continually redefining design excellence for the entire residential building industry. It spotlights the most creative and innovative builders, remodelers, architects, developers, land planners and interior designers in the nation. Every year, the awards program, sponsored by NAHB Design Committee, recognizes good design in single-family and multifamily homes of all types and sizes, communities, interior design, remodeling and rental developments.
Sponsored by Lowe’s Commercial Services, the NAHB 50+ Housing Council’s Best of 50+ Housing Awards program is the industry's most prestigious national awards program honoring excellence in building, design and marketing of housing for boomers and beyond. The Best of 50+ Housing Awards are viewed by the industry and media as a showcase for innovation, emerging trends and quality housing for the mature demographic.
The Jerry Rouleau Awards for Excellence in Marketing and Home Design, presented by the BSC and Log and Timber Homes Council
Honoring the memory of building systems veteran Jerry Rouleau, these awards salute the finest in systems-built manufacturing and construction and the marketing materials that advance these technologies. The award program is open to any member of the Building Systems Councils and all NAHB builders using systems-built construction techniques. The awards application process opens in June. Designee of the Year & Educator of the Year The Designee of the Year awards honor leading builders, remodelers and associates who hold NAHB professional designations, and the Educator of the Year award honors quality instructors of NAHB's designation courses. The awards, presented at the annual Designation Achievement Reception, recognize those who are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism while encouraging others to continue to learn and expand their industry knowledge. Awards are open to NAHB professional designation holders and instructors in good standing.
Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards NAHB's annual Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards program highlights creative development concepts, innovative financing strategies, great design and superior management and marketing in the apartment and condo marketplace.
NAHB Best in Green Awards This green award program focuses on integration: incorporating green and sustainable categories into many of NAHB’s other award programs, including the Best in American Living Awards, The Nationals, the 50+ Housing Awards, the Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards and the Jerry Rouleau Awards for Excellence in Marketing and Home Design for systems-built homes. Winners of green and/or sustainable awards in any of these programs will be automatically entered to win a Best in Green Award.
This program is one of the largest in the industry to recognize high performance and innovative distinction in design and construction among builders, remodelers, architects, designers, developers and sales and marketing professionals.
NAHB established the National Housing Hall of Fame in 1976 to recognize those individuals whose spirit, ingenuity and determination have changed the face of housing for the better, making America one of the best-housed nations in the world. Being named to the National Housing Hall of Fame is the highest individual honor bestowed by the housing industry.
Nominees are accepted throughout the year and named every three years during the NAHB International Builders' Show. A ceremony celebrating their induction takes place during the Spring Board of Directors meeting.

The Nationals – National Sales and Marketing Awards
The Nationals pays tribute to superior sales and marketing achievements by individual sales and marketing professionals, home builders and associates, and sales and marketing councils. It’s the nation's largest competition for new home sales and marketing professionals and communities. Awards are presented at The Nationals Awards Gala during IBS.
Sponsored by Sherwin-Williams, this annual award recognizes the professional achievement of a builder who year after year creates exceptional custom homes for the discerning clients, as well as demonstrates positive leadership in the industry and community.
NAHB Professional Women in Building honors councils and individuals for their achievements. Honored at the 2015 IBS were the Member of the Year, National Member of the Year, Woman of the Year and Professional Women in Building Executive Officer of the Year, as well as council awards for outstanding Member Benefits, Member Recruitment and Retention, Legislative and Political Action, and Community Service programs. In addition, the NAHB Professional Women in Building Council awards grants for member travel to the International Builders’ Show, and council sponsor Merillat provides grants for continuing education. Awards and grants are open to members of the NAHB Professional Women in Building Council in good standing.
NAHB Remodelers Awards
NAHB Remodelers awards honor professional remodelers and council members for their achievements. The awards include the Council Awards for Demonstrating Remodeling Excellence (CADRE), the National Remodeling Hall of Fame, NAHB Remodeler of the Year, NAHB Remodeler of the Month, and Homes for Life awards. Awards are open to NAHB Remodelers members in good standing.
The NAHB associate member awards recognize associates who have made outstanding contributions to their local, state and national associations and to the home building industry. The awards, to be presented at the Associate Member Awards Breakfast during the International Builders' Show, include NAHB Associate Member of the Year, the Bill Polley/BUILD-PAC award and the BEAM (Builders Engaging Associate Members) Award. Awards are open to associate members of NAHB in good standing.
The NAHB/Builders Mutual Insurance Company Safety Award For Excellence (SAFE) recognizes member companies, workers and other individuals for the excellent safety programs that make them leaders in the residential construction industry.
Presented every year by the NAHB Board of Directors, the Robert J. Corletta Award honors exceptional achievement in affordable housing efforts. The award is named for the late Corletta, former head of NAHB multifamily staff and a staunch advocate for the creation of affordable and low-income housing.
HBI’s Job Corps program is the nation’s oldest and largest residential education and job training program for at-risk youth. Housed in the U.S. Department of Labor, Job Corps offers real life, hands-on training to help young people acquire three vital pieces of the employment puzzle: trades training, basic academics and employability skills.
