Company:Coalition for Home Repair
Event Title:Ethics of Serving Low-Income Older Adults
Event Location:Online
Event Date:03/28/2024
Education Content Hours:1
Event Description:

This webinar is the second in the Coalition for Home Repair's 2024 Aging in Place Cohort series. In this session, we will be discussing what nonprofit home repair providers need to consider when making decisions working with older adults. We'll dive into how to create your own framework for your team. We'll look at case studies from working with low-income older adults and discuss in breakout rooms, so prepare for small group discussion.

Please make sure you come prepared with:

  • Any specific question or case study in working with older adults that you've experienced.
  • An example of your agency's "Client Bill of Rights," "Code of Conduct," or any "Guiding Principles" or values that helps you make decisions.

We will review some case studies in breakout rooms. Some examples of questions we will discuss are:

  • How would my agency decide whether or not to take on this case for repairs? How do we address homes that aren't "ready" for repairs?
  • What age-related questions do I want to know the answer to when screening clients?
  • What is a "wise" investment in the home repair work (whether financial or time spent with "case management" of the client)? How do we decide this?

Attendees will earn 1 hour of continuing education credit for the following NAHB professional designations: CAPS, CGA, CGB, CGR, GMB and GMR.

Company Profile:

The Coalition for Home Repair provides funding, advocacy, and educational resources for organizations and institutions that ensure the preservation of safe, healthy, affordable housing for all. The Coalition began as a conference of like-minded organizations seeking ways to share wisdom, resources, and best practices within the home repair and rehab community. Out of that was born a national trade association and a foundation that brought together organizations from across the country to make our collective stronger. Today, we're a coalition of nonprofits, local governments, and churches who repair homes and partner with businesses, sponsors, other nonprofits and individuals to make a bigger impact.
