HPBBP 2: Operation, Maintenance and Building Owner Education

Recognizing that proper operation and maintenance of the building and its green components by the owners and occupants are critical to achieving the energy, resource and water efficiency, and indoor environmental quality objectives. This module specifically addresses the areas of operation, maintenance and owner education including the content of building owners’ manuals for single-family and multifamily dwellings, building owner training for single- and two-family structures, and additional considerations for multiunit buildings. By completing this module, you will be able to:
  •Identify the necessary roles of the designer or builder and the necessary roles of the building owner or operator to realize the operational savings and benefits of a high performance building.
  •Describe the ICC/ASHRAE 700-2015 National Green Building Standard™ required and recommended content in building owners’ manuals for one- and two-family structures.
  • List several items to include in building owner training programs.
  •Describe the additional mandatory and non-mandatory considerations pertaining to building, operations and maintenance manuals for multiunit buildings.
